The Curtis Sumter Project CD Trials and Tribulations .
Lead Singer, percussionist, and bandleader Curtis Sumter has released his debut CD "Trials and Tribulations" under the No Cover Productions label. Featured on the CD is the award-winning vocalist, Blues diva Cathy Davis, Detroit’s hot guitar prodigy Motor City Josh, and Bassist Paul "Big Daddy" Baker. Other musicians include alto saxophonist "Machine Gun" Kelly Connors, Ron "The Commissioner" Latham, Quentin Baxter, The Regular Boys Horn Section, along with other talented musicians from the Detroit area. The recording presents 10 original and cover compositions incorporating Chicago blues stylings with a funky backbeat pushing the rhythms and soul of the CD.
One of Detroit's preeminent entertainers, Curtis Sumter derives inspiration from both Chicago blues music and Motown music. Based in Detroit, Mich. Sumter has performed at over 160 shows in the last two years including performances at The Heatstock Blues Festival, The Novi Blues Festival, Memphis Smoke, Buddy Guy's Legends, and The House of Blues (Myrtle Beach SC).
